The Brazilian Collection of Environmental and Industrial Microorganisms is a service collection whose mission is to act as a \u201cBiological Resource Center\u201d, CRB (a term defined by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development \u2013 OECD). It is dedicated to the preservation, storage and distribution of microorganisms and associated information, as well as taxonomic characterization and identification, thus contributing to the scientific, technological and industrial development of the country. CBMAI collection is directed to microbial strains of biotechnological, educational, taxonomic application (reference and type strains). It preserves biological material restricted to biological risk groups 1 and 2 (according to the classification of the World Health Organization - WHO). Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are accepted for deposit when they fall into groups 1 or 2 of the Brazilian classification (National Biosafety Technical Commission \u2013 CTNBio).Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development<\/i>\u201d \u2013 OECD), dedicado \u00e0 preserva\u00e7\u00e3o, armazenamento e distribui\u00e7\u00e3o de micro-organismos e informa\u00e7\u00e3o associada, bem como \u00e0 caracteriza\u00e7\u00e3o e identifica\u00e7\u00e3o taxon\u00f4mica, contribuindo para o desenvolvimento cient\u00edfico, tecnol\u00f3gico e industrial do pa\u00eds. O acervo da CBMAI \u00e9 direcionado para linhagens microbianas de aplica\u00e7\u00e3o biotecnol\u00f3gica, educacional, taxon\u00f4mica (linhagens de refer\u00eancia e linhagens tipo) e cont\u00e9m material biol\u00f3gico restrito aos grupos de risco 1 e 2 (de acordo com a classifica\u00e7\u00e3o da Organiza\u00e7\u00e3o Mundial de Sa\u00fade \u2013 OMS). Organismos geneticamente modificados (OGMs) s\u00e3o aceitos para dep\u00f3sito quando se enquadrarem nos grupos 1 ou 2 da classifica\u00e7\u00e3o brasileira (Comiss\u00e3o T\u00e9cnica Nacional de Biosseguran\u00e7a \u2013 CTNBio).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tA miss\u00e3o da Cole\u00e7\u00e3o de Plantas Medicinais e Arom\u00e1ticas (CPMA) \u00e9 preservar o material biol\u00f3gico visando seu fornecimento, interc\u00e2mbio e identifica\u00e7\u00e3o, al\u00e9m da capacita\u00e7\u00e3o de recursos humanos, e da difus\u00e3o cient\u00edfica atrav\u00e9s de t\u00e9cnicas e processos que certificam a qualidade do material biol\u00f3gico de acordo com as leis, regulamentos, e pol\u00edticas nacionais.\nA CPMA tem aproximadamente 3.000 esp\u00e9cimes de plantas registradas (cerca de 650 esp\u00e9cies e 78 fam\u00edlias bot\u00e2nicas) representando uma das principais bases para o estudo multidisciplinar de esp\u00e9cies potenciais, tanto no CPQBA-UNICAMP, como em parcerias com outras institui\u00e7\u00f5es de pesquisa e desenvolvimento tecnol\u00f3gico do pa\u00eds.\nDesde 2005, foi credenciada como Fiel deposit\u00e1rio do Patrim\u00f4nio gen\u00e9tico junto ao conselho de gest\u00e3o do Patrim\u00f4nio gen\u00e9tico (CGEN) do Minist\u00e9rio do Meio Ambiente e tornou-se, em 2014, membro associado da Rede Global de Biodiversidade Gen\u00f4mica (GGBN).
