DQOF
ORGANIC AND PHARMACEUTICAL CHEMICAL DIVISION
Initially called the Laboratory of Synthetic Chemistry, it aimed to develop organic synthesis projects for government agencies and pharmaceutical companies, with emphasis on the synthesis of various active ingredientes such as: tiratricol, bromazepam, lorazepam, pentoxifylline among others. In the early 1990s, its members participated in a multidisciplinar Project for the synthesis of artemisinin derivatives, resulting in the publication of several papers, dissertations, theses and a patent. In 1998, with the restructuring of the CPQBA, this group began to dedicate itself more to the research area of bioactive compounds of natural origin and semi-synthesis products, receiving the denomination of organic and pharmaceutical chemistry division (DQOF). This group also collaborates in teaching activities, provides training courses, and services on demand. It currently has a team made up of researches, chemists and students.
LINES OF RESEARCH

- Complete characterization of essential oils and aromas: qualitative and quantitative analysis;
- Search of potential enzyme inhibitors using capillary bioreactors coupled to the LC; ligand-fishing;
- Development of analytical methods for complex matrices of herbal, environmental and microbiological origin.
- Quantification of markers in natural and/or synthetic products;
- Characterization of essential oils;
- Isolation/purification of bioactive compounds;
- Isolation of active compounds from herbs using chromatographic techniques;
- Development of analytical methods for pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and food industries;
- Pharmacopoeial analysis and development of monographs for plant and derivatives;
- Courses, workshops and training.
